Credential Picker
The Credential Picker is a lightweight tray popup that gives you instant access to your vault credentials without opening the full Conduit window. Search for a credential, view its details, and copy usernames, passwords, TOTP codes, and more — all from a compact overlay near your system tray.
Opening the Credential Picker
There are two ways to open the Credential Picker:
- Global shortcut —
Cmd+Shift+Space(macOS) orCtrl+Shift+Space(Windows/Linux). This works from any application, even when Conduit is not focused. - Tray context menu — right-click the Conduit tray icon and select Credential Picker.
Global shortcut
The keyboard shortcut is registered globally, so it works regardless of which application is in the foreground. Conduit must be running (it can be minimized or in the system tray).
Search and Navigation
The picker opens with a search field focused and ready for input. As you type, credentials are filtered in real time. Navigate the results entirely with the keyboard:
- Arrow keys — move through the credential list.
- Enter — open the selected credential's detail view.
- Escape — close the picker (or go back from the detail view to the list).
Detail View
Selecting a credential opens a detail view with copy buttons for each field:
- Username
- Password
- TOTP code (with countdown ring and auto-refresh)
- Domain
- Private key
Click any copy button to place the value on your clipboard. TOTP codes display a circular countdown ring that shows the remaining validity period, and the code refreshes automatically when the current period expires.
Vault Unlock
If the vault is locked when you open the Credential Picker, you will be prompted to unlock it before browsing credentials:
- Personal vaults — a password prompt appears directly in the picker.
- Team vaults — unlock automatically using your team encryption key (no password prompt required).
Window Behavior
The Credential Picker is designed to stay out of your way. It appears as a frameless, always-on-top popup positioned near the tray icon and works independently of the main Conduit window. The picker automatically closes when:
- You click outside the popup (blur).
- You press
Escape. - You click the close button.
Works without the main window
The Credential Picker does not require the main Conduit window to be open. As long as Conduit is running in the background or system tray, the picker is available via the global shortcut.
